So, I finally published the site for my book club, Turning Over Pages. And I will publish the book and reading schedule later today (or tomorrow); it would be awesome if you all joined in on the fun. Here's a little hint at our first book. . .
Instead of diligently working away on my impending projects (one of which I have to present an outline on Monday. . . ) I have been creating Facebook pages for Emphatically Erica and Turning Over Pages, you should probably go to and "like" both of them, right now (I'll wait). I have yet to put up a link on the side--I'll get to it.
I have found it exceptionally hard to focus lately, especially at home. If I am at home, I always end up doing something else. I am more likely to wander onto Facebook or Pinterest or to clean things. There are so many things that I can get into that don't involve homework. I get bored and distracted from things like the pettiness of politics fairly easily. (Ironic that I will graduate in May with a B.S. in Political Science, don't you think?)
I like to go to the library on campus, the only problem is that it is an hour away. If I am going to visit Boy, I generally head down early and spend a few hours getting loads of work done. If I am staying around town, there is virtually no place to go. There is a public library, but it is generally over run with people using and waiting to use the computers. They take up the tables and look at you cross-ways if you actually crack a book.
Sometimes, I can drink coffee and it helps, but in the end, I just get distracted because I have to get up about 1000 times to go to the bathroom. Tea helps too, but I have the same issue with lavatory visits. Also, there are virtually no coffee shops in J-town. Maybe I will get the urge to focus tomorrow, let's hope so--I really need it. . .
What do you do to help yourself focus??? Any suggestions on where I can go/what I can do to prevent my mind from wandering (like, wear a paper bag on my head)??? I love to read your comments!!!
